As of 8:00 PM on Thursday, the river's stage was measured at 7.9 feet, just below its recent crest of 8.0 feet, which surpasses the flood stage of 7.0 feet. The river is forecast to remain steady at 7.8 feet, keeping it above flood stage until further notice.

    The flooding has already impacted the main road within Myakka State Park, which begins to flood when the river reaches 8.0 feet. The current water levels are comparable to a previous crest recorded on July 5, 2002, when the river also reached 7.9 feet.
