Damaging Winds and Large Hail Possible This Afternoon and Evening

Severe Thunderstorms Expected in Northeast Kentucky, Southeast Ohio, and West Virginia

Residents across northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and portions of central, northern, southern, and western West Virginia should prepare for the potential of severe weather this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, warning of stronger thunderstorms that could produce damaging winds, large hail, and localized flash flooding.

Areas under this advisory include Greenup, Carter, Boyd, Perry, Morgan, Athens, Washington, Jackson (OH), Vinton, Meigs, Gallia, Lawrence (OH), Cabell, Mason, Jackson (WV), Wood, Pleasants, Tyler, Putnam, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Gilmer, and Harrison counties.

Flash Flooding and Severe Weather Hazards

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are urged to be vigilant as localized flash flooding is possible due to heavy rainfall from these thunderstorms. Additionally, the threat of damaging winds and large hail poses risks to both property and personal safety. The public is advised to secure outdoor objects that could become projectiles in high winds and to avoid travel in areas where flooding may occur.
