    Thurston County Fair accepting entries for foods, art, hobbies and crafts

    The Thurston County Fair is accepting open class entries from July 22 through July 29 at the Thurston County Fairgrounds. Categories include open class photography, foods, hobbies and crafts, art and flowers.

    Open class photography: From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, July 26, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 27. Photography including landscapes or portraits, people or animals, black and white or full color is accepted.

    Open class hobbies and crafts: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 27, woodworking, jewelry, ceramics, dolls, models and countless other handicrafts in dozens of hobby and craft contests are accepted.

    Open class art: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 27, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, July 28, people are invited to bring paintings, sketches and drawings, miniatures and sculptures ready for display.

    Open class baking: From noon to 6 p.m., Monday, July 29, people can enter their favorite yeast or quick breads, cakes, cookies, candies or pies.

    Open class preserved foods: From noon to 6 p.m., Monday, July 29, people can enter canned fruits and vegetables, pickles, sauces, jams and jellies, vinegars, meats, and dehydrated foods, plus many more preserved foods, including honey.

    Open class floral: From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, July 29, entries are accepted for the dozens of floral contests, including cut flowers, herbs, trees and shrubs, bulbs, container gardens and more.
