If you're not from the Northeast, chances are you've never heard of a restaurant chain called Friendly's.

Friendly's are diner-style restaurants that serve massive sundaes. They also serve food, but we are here for the sundaes.

When I was younger, I recall them being huge: large glass sundae dishes filled with scoops of ice cream, streams of hot fudge, generous dollops of whipped cream. Every time we dined there, my sister and I would quickly finish our meals as best we could while saving room for dessert. After all, that's what we came for.

My go-to order was always the Reese's Pieces Sundae. Like many others my age, my love for the candy-coated peanut butter treat can be linked back to the movie E.T. Even now, it remains my favorite candy, well one of them anyway!

Unfortunatly, the Friendly's restaurants in our area are long gone and so are the massive sundaes that were so loved by so many. But, all is not lost as long as Friendly's vanilla ice cream is available at our local grocery store.

This Friendly's sundae is like the ultimate treat for Reese's Pieces lovers: it’s got scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and topped with Reese's pieces, chocolate sprinkles, whipped cream and even a cherry on top for the finishing touch.

Here is how to make this divine dessert at home and travel back in time, even if just for a moment.

    Ingredients you will need:

    • Friendly's vanilla ice cream (or your favorite brand of ice cream)
    • Hot Fudge
    • Peanut Butter Sauce
    • Marshmallow Sauce or Creme (aka Fluff)
    • Reese's Pieces Candies (regular size or mini)
    • Chocolate Sprinkles
    • Whipped Cream
    • Marachino Cherry (optional finishing touch)

NOTE: All ingredients are usually available at your local grocery. Use quality brands to get the best flavor.

    How to make this Sundae:

You can make this Sundae any size you prefer. The original Friendly's Sundaes are huge and over the top, but that's what makes them great!

    1. Scoop vanilla ice cream into a serving bowl and top with toppings.

    2. Alternate between the sauces and ice cream to create layers.

    3. Top with whipped cream, Reese's pieces, chcolate sprinkles and marachino cherry.

    4. Indulge Responsibly!!
