    According to Trader Joe's:

People living in the Mediterranean region, especially in places like Italy and Greece, have a real passion for beans. They’re a key part of the Mediterranean diet, not just because they provide a great source of non-animal protein during religious fasts, but also because they can be cooked in so many tasty ways. If you’re not yet convinced about the joys of beans, you’ve got to try Trader Joe’s Giant Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce—it’s a real treat!

These Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce are inspired by the classic Greek dish known as gigandes plaki, but Trader Joe's put their own twist on it. The supplier, all the way from Greece, uses cannellini beans instead of the usual smaller runner beans, soaking and boiling them until they’re nice and plump—definitely giant by bean standards! These hearty beans are mixed with a Tomato Sauce that features strips of onion, along with finely chopped parsley and dill. It’s seasoned with salt, black pepper, and a hint of crushed red pepper. This straightforward yet delicious blend is baked to perfection and then canned just for you.

As you see, its all cooked and seasoned for you, all you have to do is follow these simple steps to make this deliciously simple bean dip.

    Ingredients:

1 can of Trader Joe's Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce

Optional Garnish: fresh dill, lemon zest, flaked sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and/or paprika

    Directions:

    1. Carefully open the canned beans and place the beans and all of the tomato sauce into a food processor.

    2. Process until smooth and transfer into a serving dish. If you like, garnish with fresh dill, lemon zest, flaked sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and/or paprika for extra flavor and to make it look pretty.

    3. Serve with corn chips, your favorite crakers or crostini. You can also spread it on toasted baguettes and top it with tomato slices for a tasty bean bruschetta.
