Join the "Hike with a Ranger" Program at Lake Tahoe This Summer

Summer is here, and it's the perfect time to explore the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin! Starting July 26, 2024, the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) and Heavenly Mountain Resort are inviting the public to join their "Hike with a Ranger" program.

Hikes will be held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., beginning at the top of the Heavenly Gondola. Each guided hike lasts about an hour and will run through September 29, weather permitting.

These moderate hikes require closed-toe shoes and water. A gondola ticket is also needed, and participants should bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. No reservations are needed—just show up at the gondola top on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program is a great way to learn about the Lake Tahoe Basin's environment from LTBMU and Heavenly's Eco Rangers. Topics covered will enhance your understanding of local natural history and promote environmental stewardship.
