Cedar Rapids man charged with burglarizing Iowa City building
A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing an Iowa City building last year. According to the criminal complaint, 27-year-old Brodey Long of Fruitwood Lane NW and his accomplices broke into the building on the 100 block of Commerce Drive on June 29th just before 9pm. The suspects were allegedly captured on surveillance video scouting the location, staging a vehicle outside, and stealing tools and equipment. They reportedly took between $3000 and $5000 worth of equipment during three trips from the building, which houses three different businesses.
Body Found In Backseat Of Iowa Woman’s Crashed Car In Minnesota
(North Liberty, IA) — An Iowa woman is in custody in Minnesota after police found a body in the backseat of a crashed car. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash Saturday on interstate-90 near Rochester and found 32-year-old Margot Lewis of North Liberty, Iowa, standing next to the vehicle. Police then discovered the body of 35-year-old Liara Tsai of Minneapolis in the backseat, wrapped in blood covered blankets.
New Iowa law to reform how traffic camera ticket revenue is used
PRAIRIE CITY, Iowa (KCCI) - Cities in Iowa are figuring out where to spend their money as a new law is set to reform how traffic camera revenue is used. The law will go into effect in July, and it requires cities to only use revenue from traffic cameras for first responders and infrastructure improvement projects.
