CENTREVILLE — Due to grant requirement delays, the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners approved a reallocation of $300,000 in Rural Maryland Economic Development Funding from the upcoming Centreville Wastewater Treatment Plant projects to the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park July 9. Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority Relocates Administrative Offices. The Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority (QAC) is pleased to announce the relocation of its administrative offices. Effective July 22nd, the administrative offices will move from 205 E Water St STE 100, Centreville, MD 21617, to the Kramer Center, located at 104 Powell Street, Centreville, MD 21617, where the Department of Community Services is housed. Despite the change in location, the phone number (410-758-8634), fax number (410-758-8635), and mailing address (PO Box 280, Centreville, MD 21617) will remain unchanged.

House of the Week: The Albanus Phillips House, circa 1913
One of Cambridge’s landmarks is the façade of the boiler building in the complex of the Phillips Packing House. Two towering brick smokestacks with acronyms of four alphabet letters arranged vertically down the smokestacks are symbols of the Phillips’ family’s impact upon the history of Cambridge. The Phillips Packing Company was founded in 1902 and soon became the largest employer in Dorchester County. Its steady growth over time grew into an empire.
Grand jury indicts three for attempted murder
Three men who allegedly stole over $2,000 worth of merchandise from a Dunkirk grocery store and then allegedly attempted to kill two state troopers while trying to get away have each been served 13-count indictments by a Calvert County grand jury. Dead dolphin found washed ashore on Annapolis Roads beach
A dead dolphin was found on the shore of a neighborhood beach in Annapolis Roads on Sunday and has yet to be removed. Annapolis resident Ellen Morris said she was boating in Lake Ogleton when she saw the dolphin floating in the water. Morris said she tried to notify authorities, but the tide eventually carried the dolphin to a neighborhood beach on the Severn River near the mouth of Lake Ogleton.

Arrest made in assault involving gun, shovel attack and animal cruelty in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – On July 17, at 12:55 p.m., Cambridge Police Department officers responded to an assault on Muir Street. Two victims reported being attacked by three men, one flashed a gun and another struck them with a shovel. According to officials the suspect with the shovel stroke the victims service animal. Trappe council considers uses for remaining ARPA funds
