Men's Hockey Set For Clash With Army West Point In Inaugural Capital Hockey Classic
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) announced today that the inaugural Capital Hockey Classic – an exciting college hockey double header at Capital One Arena – will debut this winter. Taking place on Thursday, December 12, the first game of the event will feature a contest between Army and Navy’s club hockey teams, followed by a matchup between Army and Penn State’s Division I programs.
UPDATE: Pilot Killed After Plane Crashes into Tred Avon River Near Easton
EASTON, MD - The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have confirmed to WBOC a plane has crashed near Easton Tuesday morning. The FAA says a twin-engine Cessna 402 crashed into the Tred Avon River around 9:30 a.m. on July 16th after the pilot reported engine failure. The pilot was the only person on board, according to the FAA.
Four Navy Student-Athletes Earn 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Four Navy athletes earned 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America honors for their respective athletic and academic endeavors this past season. Senior Braden Presser earned CSC First-Team honors after his successful season in the javelin, while carrying a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a mathematics major. The Mids earned three women’s track and field/cross country honorees. Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year Annie Taylor (4.00 GPA | Mathematics) earned first-team honors, while teammates Ellie Abraham (3.81 GPA | History) and McKenna Brophy (3.97 GPA | Ocean Engineering) garnered second-team honors.
“Reasonably Fine Art Talk” At The Trippe Gallery with Charlie Hunter
The Trippe Gallery has a special line-up of events on Friday July 19. The day begins at 10:30 with a painting demo with Plein Air Easton favorite Beth Bathe. Beth is highly influenced by American Regionalist painter Andrew Wyeth. She refers to much of her subject matter as “the vanishing landscape.” She paints with Cobra water soluble oils, in a very limited tonal palette. Her tools include squeegees, toothpicks, paper towels and cotton squabs giving her paintings a washy, vintage feel.
