Adventist Health Tillamook announces the purchase of a second telemedicine robot, this one specifically designed for neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) services of infant children in need of specialized care.

This achievement marks a significant advancement in the care provided to the community’s youngest patients, ensuring that urgent neonatal consultations are accessible without delay.

The initiative, inspired by the critical role of telemedicine in delivering immediate, expert healthcare, aimed to raise money for a telehealth robot equipped with advanced features tailored to neonatal care. The new robot’s extended camera arm enables NICU specialists from OHSU to offer real-time guidance to the Adventist Health Tillamook care team, enhancing the precision and effectiveness of treatment for newborns in critical conditions. This fundraising campaign, supported by Adventist Health Tillamook associates and the broader community, reflects a shared commitment to improving healthcare outcomes through technology and collaboration. “We are immensely grateful for the generosity and support that made this acquisition possible,” said Eric Swanson, President of Adventist Health Tillamook. “This is a testament to our community’s dedication to providing the best possible care for every member, no matter how small. Quoting our Labor and Delivery Department Manager Marian Johnson, It’s a gamechanger!”

The introduction of the specialized NICU telemedicine robot into the Family Birth Place care team represents a leap forward in Adventist Health Tillamook’s capabilities to serve the needs of newborns and their families. It underscores the importance of innovative solutions in meeting the healthcare challenges of today and tomorrow. Adventist Health Tillamook extends its heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this important cause, reaffirming its mission to live God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope within the community.
