    High school baseball: Vote for the Varsity 845 player of the week (April 1-7)

    Online voting for the Varsity 845 baseball player of the week for April 1-7 is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 10 p.m. on Saturday (no computer bot voting, please).

    Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties, plus Delaware Valley (Pa.) are eligible. One player per school is permitted during each week.

    The winner will be announced via X / Twitter @Varsity845. Previous winners can become eligible again once the postseason has begun. The first-week winner was Kyle McDermott of Monroe-Woodbury.

    Varsity 845 baseball player of the week candidates

    Tyler Acevedo, Minisink Valley

    He hit a three-run homer and solo shot as the Warriors beat Pine Bush 9-2 on Monday.

    Kyle Degroat, Wallkill

    He had a double, scored twice, drove in two runs and struck out 11 batters as the Panthers blanked Roosevelt 10-0 on Saturday.

    Brady Fandl, Pine Bush

    He had a double and triple for the Bushmen in a 10-2 setback to North Rockland on Friday. On Saturday, he had a double and RBI in a 9-3 win over New Paltz.

    Mason Gove, Burke Catholic

    He tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 as the Eagles dispatched Port Jervis 10-0 in a five-inning contest on Friday.

    Logan Hart, Kingston

    He knocked in a pair of runs in the Tigers’ 3-2 loss to Colonie on Saturday.

    Alex Ramos, Goshen

    He struck out eight and allowed only two earned runs in a 3-1 setback to Monroe-Woodbury on Saturday.
