    Section 9 gets 11 players on three all-state boys basketball teams

    Eleven boys basketball players from Section 9 were named to the New York State Sportswriters Association all-state teams.

    The highest selections were Jonah McDuffie of Chapel Field (second team, Class D) and Jack O'Boyle of John S. Burke Catholic (third team, Class B).

    Chapel Field won the Section 9 Class D title, falling to Smithtown Christian in the opening round of the state tournament. Burke Catholic won the Section 9 Class B championship, falling to Woodlands by two points in the opening round of states.

    The large schools in Classes AAA, AA and A will be announced next week.

    Third team - Jack O'Boyle, Burke Catholic, Sr.; Sixth team - Jason Kinscy, Ellenville, Sr.; Fourteenth team - K.J. Jackson, Ellenville, Sr.; Honorable mention - Ryan Shust, Burke Catholic, Jr.

    Class C

    Tenth team - Owen Iannucci, Millbrook, Jr.; Honorable mention - Nick Perez, Seward, Sr.; Brodie Rathjen, Pine Plains, Jr.; Andrew Szostak, Millbrook, Sr.

    Class D

    Second team - Jonah McDuffie, Chapel Field, Sr.; Fifth team - Jake Maendel, Mount Academy, Jr.; Honorable mention - Dennis Hofer, Mount Academy, Jr.
