Injury leads to a lineup tinker: Army football depth chart vs. UAB

By Ken McMillan, Middletown Times Herald- Record,

The sixth Army football depth chart of the season has no changes in the starting lineup for Saturday's home game with Alabama Birmingham, but there are four players who have been changed on the backup list.

Gone from the number twos are cornerback Jaxon Hammond, tight end Parker Poloskey, right tackle David Hoyt and inside linebacker Baylor Newsom – Hammond is still in the mix, says coach Jeff Monken, but the others are nursing some injuries and will be game-time decisions.

Also, free safety Stephen Nnadozie has replaced banged-up Gavin Shields for a second week in a row following his start at Tulsa.

The new players on the backup chart include tight end Teddy Williams, right tackle Henry Appleton, inside linebacker Adam Cash and cornerback Justin Weaver.

Army's two-deep had remained very static through the opening games against Lehigh, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Temple and Tulsa.

And the long-awaited return of slot back and return specialist Tyrell Robinson may be at hand. The all-star Robinson has battled injuries the past two seasons, missing the first four games of the 2023 season and seeing limited duty the rest of the way. He has missed all of 2024. Monken said Robinson is close to being evaluated for play by team physicians and trainers, and said there is a chance he may be back on Saturday – if so, he may be an experienced replacement on the struggling return teams.

The Black Knights – coming off wins over Lehigh , FAU , Rice , Temple and Tulsa - play at home for the third time this season and second game as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The noon ET game will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
