    Local roundup: Wyoming Valley West golf team holds on for one-shot win

    A solid team effort brought home a very tight match for the Wyoming Valley West golf team, beating Wilkes-Barre Area by just a single stroke 170-171 on Wednesday.

    Seth Kranson’s 41 was the low score for the Spartans, followed by Luke Binochetti at 42, Ray Chimok at 43 and Chris McNew with a 44.

    Wilkes-Barre Area’s Brady Gerrity was the low scorer of the day, shooting a 39 to earn medalist honors for the Wolfpack.

    Pittston Area 152, Wyoming Area 164

    Pat Ruane carded the only under-par round of the day to help lead Pittston Area to a rivalry win over Wyoming Area.

    Ruane earned medalist honors with a score of 33, clearing the field by five shots. Noah Gruber added a 38 to help the Patriots.

    Kristian Pugliese and Mario Belza each shot 40 to lead Wyoming Area.

    Dallas 158, Berwick 178

    Ryan Roman shot a 34 to earn medalist honors and lead Dallas to the win.

    Charlie Letwinsky was two shots behind Roman with a 36 for the Mountaineers. Peyton VanValkenburgh and Brady Youngblood each shot a 44.

    Grant Evensen was Berwick’s low scorer, finishing with a 39.
