    Local roundup: Wyoming Seminary defeats Dallas, Nanticoke in WVC golf tri-match

    Defending state champ Nick Werner shot a 35 to earn medalist honors as Wyoming Seminary defeated both Dallas and Nanticoke Area in a tri-match on Tuesday.

    Wyoming Seminary’s team score of 165 was good enough to edge past Dallas, with the Mountaineers posting a score of 174. Nanticoke Area shot a 241 as a team.

    Ryan Roman shot a 39 to lead Dallas. Lucas Yendrzeiwski’s 52 was the low score for Nanticoke Area.

    Crestwood 158, Wyoming Valley West 217

    The Comets improved to 3-0 on the year with a win over the Spartans on Tuesday. Tommy Biscotti shot an even-par 36 to earn medalist honors for Crestwood, while Sienna Smith shot a 39.

    Ray Chimok led Wyoming Valley West with a score of 51.

    Holy Redeemer 169, Wilkes-Barre Area 182

    Arden Brunn led the field with a 38, earning medalist honors for Holy Redeemer as the Royals beat Wilkes-Barre Area.

    Brady Gerrity was the low scorer for the Wolfpack, shooting a 40.

    GIRLS GOLF

    Hazleton Area 144, Abington Heights 148

    Kayla Wysocky earned medalist honors with a 47, including a birdie on the final hole to lead Hazleton Area to victory. Madison Matteo shot a 48, and Gia Rainey added a 49 for the Cougars.

    Bri Moffatt and Kate Peters each shot a 49 for Abington Heights.

    GIRLS TENNIS

    Berwick 3, Pittston Area 2

    Berwick won at first singles and swept the two doubles points to hold off Pittston Area.

    Norah Hester won in singles for the Bulldogs. The teams of Audra Lear and Mahi Brahmbhatt, and Lauren Donnelly and Skye Terrenes swept the doubles matches.

    Ella Swan and Gabby Gorzkowski won in singles for Pittston Area.

    Hazleton Area 4, Wyoming Valley West 1

    The Cougars opened up their 2024 season with a win over Wyoming Valley West.

    Nanci Major won in singles for Hazleton Area, and the doubles duo of Kristina Kupsho and Dary Morena De La Cruz added a doubles win. Hazleton Area also picked up two points via forfeit.

    Alessandra Montalto earned the lone point for Valley West with a singles win.

    Berwick 3, Pittston Area 2
