WILKES-BARRE — City police say they are searching for a man deemed a “person-of-interest” in a reported shooting.

In a brief announcement on the city police department’s Facebook page, an unknown man was observed fleeing the area of a reported shooting at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.

Police did not say the location of the shooting.

The unknown man fled police and drove in the wrong direction on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Police did not say where the man entered the turnpike - Pittston Township or Bear Creek Township - or the direction of travel.

Police considered the man “armed and dangerous.”

Anyone who can identify the pictures of the man is asked to call Wilkes-Barre police at 570-208-6688 or [email protected]
