Woman reports being scammed in text messaging ‘Bee Gees’ singer

WILKES-BARRE — A woman from Mill Street, Wilkes-Barre, reported she was scammed when instructed by “Barry Gibb” from the Bee Gees to send information from gift cards.

City police said the woman reported she was text messaging a person she believed was Barry Gibb and was instructed to purchase six Apple gift cards and provide information from the cards.

She further provided the unknown suspect information from her credit card, police stated.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
