    Local roundup: Wyoming Valley West golf edges Redeemer for a win

    Kaden Dittus shot a 37 to earn medalist honors and help Wyoming Valley West pull out a close 164-166 victory over Holy Redeemer in a WVC golf match on Thursday.

    Ray Chimok shot a 40, and Chris McNew added a 42 for the Spartans.

    Arden Brunn shot a 39 to finish as the low scorer for Holy Redeemer.

    Lake-Lehman 165, Berwick 184

    Charlie Weidner and A.J. Borchert both shot a 40 at Huntsville to lift the Black Knights.

    Conner Smigelski had a 42 while Von Voelker and Jack Kashatus each shot a 43.

    Berwick’s Kale Knorr was the medalist, carding a 2-over 38. Grant Evensen and Cole Phillips both were at 47 for the Bulldogs, followed by Jackson Matash.

    Hazleton Area 165, MMI Prep 193

    Gabe Fatula led the field with a 38 as Hazleton Area defeated MMI Prep at Valley Country Club. Troy Gaydos was a shot behind Fatula, posting a score of 39.

    Caleb Skuba and Bryce Radzwich each shot 47 for MMI Prep.

    Nanticoke Area 211, Hanover Area 226

    Lucas Yendrzeiwski shot a 44 for medalist honors to give the Trojans a win at Wyoming Valley Country Club. Also scoring in the victory were Ryan Vida, Treyton Mishanski and Liam McGovern.

    The Hawkeyes were led by Jeff Peck with a 47, followed by Cam Kratz, Dylan Martin and Kaeden McArdle.

    GIRLS GOLF

    Hazleton Area 141, Honesdale 146

    Madison Matteo finished four shots clear of the field to help lead the Hazleton Area girls to a win over Honesdale. The Cougars improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory.

    Matteo earned medalist honors with a score of 40. Gia Rainey shot a 48, and Kayla Wysocky finished with a 53 for the Cougars.

    Delaney Rowe shot a 44 to lead Honesdale.

    GIRLS TENNIS

    Berwick 4, Holy Redeemer 1

    The Bulldogs pulled out a few close sets at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles en route to a win at Kirby Park.

    Norah Hester and Carly Post posted singles wins for the Bulldogs while the duos of Lauren Ashworth/Audra Lear and Mahi Brah/Skye Tencnes won at doubles.

    Elizabeth Rich won at second singles for the Royals.

    Crestwood 5, Hanover Area 0

    The Comets swept the Hawkeyes, dropping just two games over five matches for the win.

    Hannah Ziegler, Cameron Carlos and Ella Richards all won at singles. The teams of Paicey Clower/Datin Khuseyn and Kendall Petrosky/Lucy Malia prevailed at doubles.
