Collaborative Autism Movement is a new non-profit autism organization that set out to make a huge impact on our local autism community. The team brings 20+ years of experience in the non-profit sector. The advisory board is hand-selected based on their experience and expertise within the industry and how they correlate with CAM’s mission to become a more inclusive community.

CAM’s mission is to collaborate with community partners to support the inclusion and understanding of individuals with autism and to focus their efforts on offering impactful resources to help support their needs.

CAM prides itself on its collaborative relationships with several local businesses and nonprofits in the area to continue expanding their reach throughout Northeastern, PA. They are currently working with ASD service providers, autism-based non-profit organizations, salons & barbers, and behavior technicians to provide a safe sensory space for sensory-friendly haircuts. They focus on creating safe sensory environments by limiting stimuli and practicing hair-cutting experiences to gradually titrate into a traditional salon/barber setting. These sessions have helped individuals with autism to overcome their aversion to haircutting experiences. Since the inception of CAM’s sensory haircutting and resource toolkit program, CAM has been able to provide just over 100 successful haircuts to individuals with autism/special needs.

In addition, CAM has created an inclusive approach to photography sessions for children and their families affected by autism spectrum disorders called sensory-friendly photography. Currently, CAM has been able to provide 640 successful photo sessions for families.

Collaborative Autism Movement is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified sports join people with and without intellectual or physical disabilities on the same team.
