KINGSTON — Police in Kingston arrested Ryan McCawley Mathis, 22, on charges he stabbed another man seven times under the North Street Bridge late Friday night, according to court records.

Mathis, of Hollywood Avenue, Plains Township, was apprehended at the scene where police collected a kitchen knife as evidence.

    According to the criminal complaint:

Police responded to the area under the bridge just after 11 p.m. where Mathis was detained. Mathis voluntarily uttered the words, “I did stab someone,” to officers.

Police found a man who was bleeding from stab multiple stab wounds.

The victim was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

After being medically evaluated and treated, police learned the victim had sustained seven stab wounds to his back, right arm and wrist and left thigh, the complaint says.

Mathis was arraigned by District Judge Rick Cronauer of Wilkes-Barre on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault, prohibited offensive weapons and reckless endangerment. Mathis was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility without bail as Cronauer deemed him a threat to society.
