The first Sheetz restaurant and convenience store to open in Hendersonville — and the Asheville area as a whole — will host a grand opening event complete with prizes, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and free self-serve coffee and soda all day.
The festivities begin outside of the store at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, with a prize giveaway as the first event. The grand prize is a $2,500 Sheetz gift card. No purchase is necessary to win, but anyone entering must be present and over the age of 18.
In addition to the event, Sheetz said in a news release that it is donating $2,500 to MANNA Foodbank, an Asheville nonprofit that works to end food insecurity in Western North Carolina, and a second donation of the same amount to the Special Olympics of NC.
The chain encourages customers attending the opening to donate a nonperishable food item to the nonprofit. Anyone who donates will receive a Sheetz branded item with a limit of one per customer while supplies last from 9-11 a.m.
