Hot inland weather is forecast through Tuesday as high pressure peaks in strength then San Diego County is expected to see a slight cooling trend during the second half of this week, forecasters said Monday, though highs will still exceed 100 degrees in some areas.

High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 77 to 82 near the coast, 86 to 90 inland, 89 to 94 in the western valleys, 96 to 101 near the foothills, 92 to 101 in the mountains and 110 to 113 in the deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

Low pressure will strengthen from the north starting Wednesday, which will bring a cooling trend into the weekend, forecasters said.

Coastal low clouds and fog will be patchy through Wednesday then increase and extend farther inland each night and morning through the weekend. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms in the mountains Wednesday afternoon.

High pressure is expected to strengthen slightly next week for warmer weather, NWS said.
