San Diego Gas & Electric Hosts 6th Annual Wildfire Safety Fair

San Diego Gas & Electric will be hosting its 6th Annual Wildfire Safety Fairs, the final fair of a total of four this year, designed to provide families with essential resources, education, and family-friendly fun.

On August 24, from 9 a.m. – 1p.m at Bates Nut Farm, San Diego Gas & Electric will partner up with local emergency responders, fire departments, and community organizations to lead a free-of-cost series of activities and discussions to provide important information, safety tips and resources, such as information on emergency preparedness, evacuation plans, and wildfire mitigation strategies.

“As we enter wildfire season, it is crucial for residents to be equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones. Our success has been rooted in partnerships with local agencies, first responders, and community organizations, fostering a network of support and preparedness that collectivity strengthens our ability to support our customers.” said Brian D’Agostino, vice president of wildfire and climate science at the organization.

Some highlights of this year’s fair include food and refreshments on a first-come, first-serve basis, free safety kit resources, prizes, interactive exhibit, emergency kit giveaways, and an educational petting zoo featuring fire-fighting goats.

The Wildfire Safety Fairs have become a staple event for San Diego Gas & Electric. The first Wildfire Safety Fair took place on May 18 at the Ramona Outdoor Community Center, with two additional fairs following during the summer (Rancho Bernardo Community Park on June 8 and Joan McQueen Middle School on July 13). With what’s traditionally known as peak wildfire season right around the corner, San Diego Gas & Electric is hosting its final Wildfire Safety Fair this Saturday.

Partners of the event include organizations CAL FIRE / San Diego County Fire, American Red Cross, 2-1-1 San Diego, Access and Functional Needs, Community Emergency Response Team, San Diego Animal Services, and San Diego Humane Society.
