A man was arrested Wednesday morning after he stole a work truck and took it on a ten-mile joyride before surrendering to place.

The incident began when a Safe-T-Lite employee left his truck to set up cones on the street. At that point, the suspect got into the truck and drove off in it.

According to the San Diego Police Department, an officer spotted the suspect driving the truck west on the 56 and followed him as he made his way into the Del Mar Heights area.

When police tried to pull him over, he fled, reaching speeds of up to 80 miles an hour on residential streets before getting on the southbound 5 and then the 805.

The truck was eventually stopped by a spike strip at Mercy Rd. and Black Mountain Rd.

After he realized the truck had been disabled, the suspect walked over to officers, who arrested them.

San Diego police have identified the suspect as Levente Juhasz. There were no details about a potential motive.

    No injuries were reported.
