Mama’s Kitchen, an organization that provides medically-tailored meals to those in need, is having its 20th annual pie bake sale, raising money for their Food is Medicine Coalition-accredited business.

According to their website, each pie sold contributes to 12 meals for clients battling illnesses.

Since 2004, Mama’s Pies Thanksgiving bake sale has brought the city of San Diego together to buy and sell pies to support its mission of providing nutritional accommodations for people with HIV, cancer, congestive heart failure, Type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, according to their website.

“Our annual bake sale is a great way for us to help people across San Diego complete their holiday meals with a delicious pie baked by some of the county’s finest culinary minds [and is] a key way to raise the funds we need to provide medically-tailored meals for our clients throughout the year,” Eva Matthews, Mama’s Kitchen chief executive officer, said in a release.

To support the cause, you can sell, volunteer, buy or donate.

To sell a pie, sellers can start taking orders Oct. 21 through Nov. 23 at https://mamaspies.org or email silvia@mamaskitchen.org.

Pumpkin, pecan, apple, Dutch apple, and a mystery flavor pie are available to purchase for $32 each.

Pies go on sale to the general public Oct. 21, but Mama’s Kitchen Bread & Butter club members can begin purchasing Oct. 14.

Pies can be picked up on Wednesday of Thanksgiving week at several locations throughout San Diego County.
