IOWA PARK — Callista Berrett struck out 16 and Iowa Park’s offense registered multiple big innings as the Lady Hawks pulled off a series sweep of Amarillo River Road with a 10-4 victory on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks (26-13-1) will meet top-ranked Coahoma in the Region I-3A finals after the Bulldogettes swept Bushland in its regional semifinal.

Iowa Park picked up where it left off Thursday by scoring four runs in the first inning Saturday as Bailey Martinez had a two-run double with the bases loaded.

River Road pulled within 5-4 in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Hawks answered right away with a five-run frame, taking advantage of two costly River Road errors.

Berrett, whose return from injury has helped spark Iowa Park to the regional finals for the third time in four years, gave up three earned runs on five hits. Only five of River Road’s outs came on a ball put in play.

In Thursday’s 13-1 rout of River Road, Kinslee Deel drove in three runs and Jacie Barnes added two RBIs in Game 1. Berrett struck out 10, while Iowa Park broke open a 5-1 game with four-run innings in the fifth and sixth frames.

Burkburnett can’t keep up with Pampa

WOLFFORTH — Burkburnett’s bid to make a second straight regional final ended Saturday afternoon as Pampa pulled off a sweep with an 8-1 victory in Game 2.

In her final high school game, Lady Bulldog ace Natalee Gray struck out 11 but allowed five extra-base hits, including two home runs by Karina Gonzalez.

Burkburnett’s lone run came in the first inning on Kennedy Smith’s RBI double, but Pampa pitcher Kynleigh Kirby allowed five hits and struck out six.

Storms in the Lubbock area pushed the series back to Friday. Pampa claimed a 6-2 decision in Game 1 with the difference being four unearned runs the Lady Bulldogs allowed.

The Lady Bulldogs end their season at 31-12, while Pampa advances to face Sanger in the regional finals.

Riesel ousts Archer City in two

STEPHENVILLE — Riesel’s Kyleigh Benton hit two home runs and threw a one-hitter Saturday afternoon, leading the Lady Indians to a sweep of Archer City with a 10-0 victory.

Addi Canada had the only hit for the Lady Wildcats, who struck out nine times. Archer City finishes the season at 17-15-1.

Riesel opened the series with a 5-0 victory Thursday in which Benton struck out 14 in a four-hit shutout.
