At a time of year when temperatures typically get gradually cooler, North Texas will instead see them get gradually warmer, taking a further toll on depleting water reservoirs.

The National Weather Service predicts daytime highs in Wichita Falls will tick upward from 91 degrees on Tuesday to 96 degrees on Saturday.

No rain is in the forecast.

Wichita Falls primary reservoirs declined over the past week with the combined level of lakes Arrowhead and Kickapoo dipping 0.8 percent to 66.2 percent of capacity. Stage 1 Drought Watch restrictions kick back in at 65 percent.

Lake Kemp, which also adds to the city’s water supply, remained healthy on Tuesday, registering 98.2 percent full.

The weather service predicts a little heat relief by Monday, Columbus Day, with a high of 87 degrees.
