    Community Day brings artists, games, petting zoo and live music to New Concord

    NEW CONCORD – Friends of New Concord will offer the second annual New Concord Community Day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 31. The one-mile Muskie Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. at New Concord Elementary School. The vendors village with 25 artisans will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Genesis Primary Care.

    A kids' corner will also be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a coloring station, sidewalk chalk and yard games. There will also be children's bingo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., performance by Friendship 5 from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Big Fish Folk Life storytelling from noon to 3 p.m., touch a truck with local police and fire from 1 to 2 p.m. and a craft station and petting zoo with miniature ponies and goats from 2 to 4 p.m.

    Flying Naked Pig and the New Concord Fire Department will be selling food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Street and Chick-fil-A will be set up from 1 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of New Concord Elementary. New Concord businesses with goods and services benefitting students will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Party in the park is 4 to 10 p.m. at New Concord War Memorial Park with live music from Fly Ohio and Spelchek, rock climbing wall, axe throwing, dunk tank, cornhole tournaments and other yard games and a bonfire. Guernsey Brewhouse will have a beer garden and there will be various food trucks.
