    Monday roundup: Sheridan volleyball keeps surging in Muskingum Valley League

    McCONNELSVILLE — Sheridan's charge through the Muskingum Valley League continued on Monday night.

    Payton Powell tallied three aces with eight kills and nine digs as the Generals rolled to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 win against host Morgan in a crossover match.

    Halle Warner added six kills and Dylan Fox three kills with 19 assists and 11-of-11 serving for Sheridan, now 17-3 overall and 13-1 in league play. Ava Heller added two aces and 15 digs.

    Paige Lanning tallied 23 assists and Haven Cook and Evelyn Newton combined for 15 kills and two blocks for Morgan (11-8). Blair Clawson amassed 17 digs.

    The Generals host Big School Division co-leader River View (13-6, 11-2) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

    Maysville 3, Zanesville 0: Sailor Atkins had eight kills and eight digs, and Riley Dooley and Avery Daniels served four aces each in the Panthers' 26-24, 25-16, 25-10 victory.

    Dooley added six assists and three digs, Daniels made nine digs with four kills, Kaitlyn Clark set out 12 assists with two aces and two digs, and Bekah Scott chipped in a team-high 15 digs and three aces for the winners.

    Tri-Valley 3, Licking Valley 1: The Scotties won their third straight with a 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, 25-20 win over the Panthers in nonleague action.

    Girls Soccer

    Heath 5, New Lexington 0 : Kailyn Holmberg scored twice and three other Bulldogs also knocked in goals in a win over the Panthers (3-12).

    Fairfield Union 2, Rosecrans 0 : The Falcons scored twice in the first half in improving to 15-1-1 with a nonleague home win against the Bishops (12-3-1).

    West Muskingum 1, Lakewood 1: The Tornadoes trailed 1-0 at the half but a second-half goal helped them forge a draw with the Lancers.

    Boys Soccer

    Sheridan 3, Lakewood 2: Xavior Weisbarth-Rodriguez scored his second goal with 3:14 left in the match, giving the Generals the win.

    Ike Kausek added a goal and Kasen Miller had two assists to set the single-season school record.

    Tri-Valley 0, Mount Vernon 0: The Scotties (4-7-3) salvaged a tie on their home field against the Yellow Jackets at Kenny Wolford Park.
