    Thursday football roundup: General Brown first to five wins in Section III football

    LITTLE FALLS -- The General Brown Lions are the first Section III school with five football wins this fall following Thursday's 30-12 win over Little Falls.

    Little Falls (2-3, 0-2 C East) kept the game close into the second half and had chances to get closer. The Mounties tailed 8-6 before allowing a touchdown in the final minute before halftime. They got the ball to start the second half after General Brown fumbled the kickoff at the Lions 22-yard line.

    Little Falls, which had taken the ball to start the game, driven and tuned the ball over on downs afte two passes into the end zone, had another chance in the third quarter and had a fourth down pass go off a receiver's hands in the opposite end zone.

    General Brown (5-0, 2-0 C East), leading 16-6, turned around and drove for a touchdown on a 25-yard run by Hayden Moody. The conversion pass was broken up by Wyatt Beadle, but the lead grew to 22-26.

    The teams took turns turning the ball over though the rest of the third quarter, highlighted by Jimmy Milianta intercepting a Ward pass for Little Falls at the Mounties' 5-yard line.

    Little Falls drove for a Jackson Hummel touchdown run midway though the fourth quarter, cuttng the lead to 22-12 before Douglas Jarvie ran 27 yards for the final General Brown touchdown with 3:36 on the clock.

    The Lions had opened the scoring in the first quarter with Jarvie's first touchdown after keeping the Mounties out of the end zone on the opening drive. General Brown added two points on the conversion with Moody passing the ball back to quarteback Jackson Ward.

    Little Falls recovered a General Brown fumble at its 16-yard line in the middle of the second quarter and drove 84 yards for its first points on a 7-yard Hummel-to-Milianta pass.

    Ward ran a sneak for a touchdown following a play that was ruled down within inches of the goal line with 24 seconds left in the first half. The Lions had started the drive after Little Falls scored with 1:57 on the clock.

    Little Falls plays at home again Oct. 11 against Adirondack which was beaten 20-16 by Lowville Academy its own home game Thursday.
