FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — A 24-year-old woman is facing multiple financial charges including money laundering after she allegedly received more than $23,000 in transfers from JP Morgan, according to an arrest warrant obtained by News13.

Alisha Marie Peterson of Timmonsville was charged with bank fraud, money laundering and first-degree computer crime act exceeding $10,000. She was booked into the Florence County Detention Center Tuesday morning.

Between April 12 and May 15, Peterson received eight transfers from JP Morgan, totaling $23,493.12, according to an arrest warrant. On May 20, the entire amount was charged back as fraudulent activity.

During that time, Peterson allegedly sent nearly $3,800 to her Cash App account, purchased more than $10,000 in cryptocurrency and paid Florence Darlington Technical College more than $1,200, an arrest warrant shows. The money was transmitted through her Anderson Brothers Bank account on Hoffmeyer Road in Florence.

The Cash App and Uphold crypto were purchased by the means of computer cell phone applications, the warrant said. Peterson confirmed the majority of the transactions in an interview.
