Home care aide charged for accepting $100 gift

    2024-04-30

Whatcom County home care aide Candice Rose Hilton has been charged with misconduct for accepting a $100 gift from a patient, the Washington Department of Health reported on Monday.

Hilton allegedly accepted the money from a patient under her care at Woodway Senior Living in Bellingham to fix her car window in February of 2021, according to the DOH. The assisted living facility fired Hilton on Feb. 21, 2021 for violating workplace policies, which prohibit receiving gifts from patients.

The Home Care Aide Program filed charges against Hilton on March 12, the DOH reports. It's unclear based on the DOH's report whether Hilton's car window was broken at the time.

Healthcare providers charged with misconduct have 20 days to respond in writing, the DOH reports further. If no disciplinary agreement can be reached, the case will go to a hearing, according to the agency.

It's bull....people know when they have good caregivers. Little blessings help to retain them...the turnover is atrocious.
