Counselor's Credentials Suspended for Sexual Misconduct

    2024-07-26

State health officials suspended the credentials of Chelan County mental health counselor and agency-affiliated counselor Devin A. McNeil, the Washington Department of Health reported on Thursday.

The DOH investigation found McNeil committed unprofessional conduct when he became sexually involved with two female patients, one of whom was a minor.

McNeil allegedly sent sexual comments to an 18-year-old female patient over Snapchat in 2022, the DOH reports. He later became physically intimate with her at a park between March and April of 2023, according to DOH investigators.

In February of 2023, McNeil began counseling a 14-year-old girl until April of that year when the patient ended their sessions after he exhibited "inappropriate behavior," the DOH reports. This allegedly included McNeil touching the girl and making sexual comments as well as taking a photo of her breast area, according to the DOH.

McNeil cannot practice in Washington until the charges are resolved, according to the DOH. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and ask for a hearing, it reports further.
