On Wednesday, Gov. Jay Inslee announced he appointed Christine D. Hayes to the Clark County Superior Court to fill a new, twelfth seat.

Hayes served for nearly five years as the city attorney and prosecuting attorney for the City of Battle Ground, advising the city council and administration on such policies and procedures as civil rights, annexations, land use matters, and public records matters, according to the Office of the Governor.

“Christine Hayes is dedicated to improving the judicial system and to her community. She is a tireless, well-respected and experienced judicial officer and lawyer, and she is well prepared to serve the Clark County community in this role,” said Inslee. “I’m pleased that she will bring her integrity, work ethic, creativity, experience and compassion to the Clark County Superior Court bench.”

Hayes prosecuted misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors for the cities of Battle Ground, Ridgefield and La Center, the Governor's Office reports further. Her legal expertise includes family law, child support, parentage, adoptions, relocations, and civil protection orders, officials with the Governor's Office say.

Hayes currently serves as a Clark County Superior Court commissioner and serves on various court-related committees dedicated to improving court services, the Governor's office reports.

Hayes earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and a law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, according to the Governor's Office.

That can't be good for legal citizens and their constitutional rights.
