Nurse's License Suspended After Arrest for Sexual Abuse

State health officials suspended the credential of registered nurse Thato Mbakiso Masotja, the Washington Department of Health reported on Thursday.

The Oregon man was indicted in the state of Oregon Clackamas County Circuit Court and arrested on three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, class B felonies, the DOH reports. He is licensed in Washington, according to the department.

From December of 2019 to February of 2023, investigators allege, Masotja sexually assaulted a child patient on three separate occasions during medical evaluations.

Masotja cannot practice in Washington until the charges against his license are resolved, according to the DOH. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and to ask for a hearing, the department reports further.
