Proposed Fishing Rule Changes in Chelan and Grant Counties: Seeking Public Input

Anglers in Chelan and Grant counties may be allowed to reel in more catches for more of the year under pending rule changes, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reports.

WDFW officials say they're considering eliminating the current daily limit of 25 yellow perch in Chelan Countys' Fish Lake to cut down the local population and improve the average size of the lake's fish.

For Grant County's Park, Blue, and Deep Lakes, the WDFW says it's considering extending the current fishing season from Sep. 30 to Oct. 31 to shore up fishing opportunities during the productive fall trout fishing season.

A virtual public meeting on the rule changes above will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sep. 10, according to the WDFW, to explain the rule proposals and answer questions.

The draft of the pending rule-making petitions is available for review and interested attendees can register for it by going to Webinar Registration - Zoom.

Washingtonians can view and submit comments at the WDFW Eastern Washington lakes rule making webpage through Sep. 10.

A final call on the rule changes by WDFW’s Director is expected in September, the department reports. If adopted, the changes will go into effect almost immediatley after being filed with the Washington Code Reviser’s Office, the WDFW reports further.
