    Celebrate the 4th of July with this red, white and blue poke cake

    Looking for an easy dessert to make for the 4th of July? This red, white and blue poke cake tastes just as good as it will look on your table. This moist and flavorful cake is truly perfect for your Independence Day BBQ's or holiday party.

    INGREDIENTS:

    • 1 box of white cake mix
    • Water for the cake mix (as directed)
    • Vegetable oil for the cake mix (as directed)
    • Eggs for the cake mix (as directed)
    • 1 small box of strawberry Jello mix
    • 1 small box of berry blue Jello mix
    • Water, for the Jello (as directed)
    • 1- 8 oz container of whipped topping
    • 1 cup of fresh strawberries, sliced
    • 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries

    DIRECTIONS:

    • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
    • Prepare and bake the cake mix as directed on box in a 9 by 13-inch cake pan.
    • Cool the cake in the pan on a cooling rack for about 30 minutes.
    • With a wooden spoon or large straw, poke holes evenly in the cake about every 1/2 inch.
    • In large mixing bowl, stir in the strawberry Jello with boiling water until it has dissolved then stir in cold water. Slowly pour the red Jello mix evenly over the top of cake.
    • Repeat the same steps with the berry blue Jello mix.
    • Cover and refrigerate the cake for about 4 to 6 hours.
    • Gently spread the whipped topping on top of the cake.
    • Arrange the sliced strawberries and blueberries on top of the cake to look like the flag.
    • Store the cake in refrigerator until ready to serve and enjoy!
