    Jimmy Buffett, legendary singer-songwriter who loved New Orleans dies at 76

    Jimmy Buffett, the legendary singer-songwriter who was known for his fun-loving personality and laid back, beach bum style, has died at the age of 76.

    A statement released on his website read, “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”

    Buffett was a regular performer at Jazz Fest in New Orleans. In 2019, he co-produced a documentary that was shot during the 50th anniversary of the festival called “Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story, which won a Grammy Award for best music film. Buffett was also an avid Saints fan, who was often seen at training camp practices or on the sidelines before home games. The Saints paid several tributes to Buffett on their official Twitter account and several current and former players also posted tributes of their own.

    Best known for his hit single “Margaritaville” which was released in 1977 and later inspired a global brand that included numerous restaurants and resorts, a radio station, apparel, clothing, food and drink items and more. He had a devoted base of fans that were known as "Parrotheads".

    Buffett is survived by his wife, Jane and their three children, Savannah, Sarah, and Cameron.
