    Bayou Boogaloo sets up 3 days of fun in New Orleans

    Bayou Boogaloo is back for 2024 celebrating its 17th year. The festival will be Friday, May 17th - Sunday, May 19th for 3 days of amazing music, food, arts and family fun. Bayou Boogaloo, which was founded in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, takes place on the banks of Bayou St. John in Mid-City. The festival is hosted by the MotherShip Foundation, a nonprofit organization who is dedicated to encouraging social change by improving the quality of life for Louisiana residents through the promotion of arts, culture, and recreation.

    Bayou Boogaloo has announced this year's musical lineup will include performances by GZA and the Phunky Nomads, Nik West, Afroman, George Porter Jr., Naughty Professor with Chali 2na, Big Sam's Funky Nation and more.

    Boating and rafting on Bayou St. John during the festival is one of the things that makes Bayou Boogaloo so unique. Boats, floats, canoes, kayaks and barges are welcomed. Every festival attendee on the water will need a ticket to the festival for entry, which includes a $2.00 environmental fee that goes to preserving and protecting Bayou St. John. Any person or group who desires to build and place a homemade barge in the water will be subject to a $100 removal fee if barge is left in the bayou more than 24 hours after the festival ends. This does not apply to canoes, kayaks, inflatables, etc.
