Celebrate National Tequila Day with Summertime Rosé Tequila Sangria

Did you know that Wednesday, July 24th, is National Tequila Day?

Tequila is a distilled spirit made from the blue agave plant. It is one of the world’s most infamous spirits, with only Absinthe surpassing its legendary reputation. There are two types of tequila: dark and light. The main difference between the two comes from the aging process. Dark tequila, also known as “anejo,” is aged for at least two years in oak barrels, which results in a smoother, more complex taste. Light tequila, or “blanco,” is bottled immediately after distillation and has a sharper, more agave-forward flavor. Both are equally delicious options for sipping or making cocktails, it just ultimately comes down to one's personal preference in taste. So, since today is National Tequila Day, what better way to celebrate than a refreshing, delicious Summertime Sangria made with tequila?

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 cup of light tequila
• 1 bottle of Rosé wine
• 1 cup of fresh lime juice
• 2/3 cup of agave nectar
• 2 cups of fresh strawberries, halved and hulled
• 1 cup of peaches, sliced
• 1 cup of fresh blueberries
• 1 cup of fresh cherries, pitted
• 3 limes, sliced
• Sparkling water
• Fresh basil for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

• In a large pitcher, combine all of the ingredients except the sparkling water and basil.
• Gently stir to combine and place in the refrigerator until chilled.
• For serving, stir the sangria well.
• Fill glasses with ice and pour the sangria over ice.
• Top with sparkling water, garnish with basil and enjoy!
