Drew Brees seeks second chance in NFL broadcasting booth

In a recent interview with Front Office Sports, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees believes that getting another opportunity in the broadcasting booth will come with more success.

Brees said, “I think I could be the absolute best at it, if given the opportunity. I valued my time at NBC so much, for that year after I played, I spent most of that time in-studio on Sunday Night Football, having to work with some incredible people."

Brees was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2001, playing a total of 20 seasons in the NFL. During his NFL career, he set numerous passing and completion records, was selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times, NFL Offensive Player of the Year twice, and won Super Bowl 44 with the Saints and named MVP of the game.

After retiring in 2021, he spent the 2021-22 season with NBC, serving as studio analyst on the network’s Football Night in America and calling college football games for Notre Dame, as well. Brees and NBC would part ways after just one season.

Now, the future Hall of Fame quarterback would like another shot at calling NFL games.

Adding, "But I didn’t really get the chance to broadcast NFL games. And that’s what I feel like I’m most qualified to do. That’s what I feel like I’m most passionate about. And certainly where my knowledge base lies, right? Telling the story of the game, getting you inside the huddle, getting you inside the quarterback’s head, letting you know how we’re attacking this defense. That to me is something I’d love to do down the road when the time is right.”
