Reggie Bush files suit against USC, Pac-12 and NCAA seeking NIL compensation

Former college and NFL football star Reggie Bush has filed a lawsuit against USC, the NCAA and Pac-12 in an attempt to recoup money made on his name, image and likeness during his career with the USC Trojans two decades ago.

Bush's attorney Evan Selik said, “This case is not just about seeking justice for Reggie Bush. It’s about setting a precedent for the fair treatment of all college athletes. Our goal is to rectify this injustice and pave the way for a system where athletes are rightfully recognized, compensated and treated fairly for their contributions.”

Bush was one of the most explosive college football players of all time. His 1,331 all-purpose yards set a USC freshman record. During his junior year at USC, he rushed for 1,740 yards and 16 touchdowns. In 2005, Bush was a unanimous first-team All-American and the 71st winner of the Heisman Trophy. In addition to his Heisman Trophy, he was named the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year, won the Doak Walker Award, Walter Camp Award, and was selected as the Pac-10's offensive player of the year.

He went on to be drafted 2nd overall in the 2006 NFL draft by New Orleans Saints and was named to the NFL PFWA All-Rookie Team that year. Bush later won Super Bowl XLIV with the Saints in 2009.

On December 15, 2017, Bush announced his retirement from the NFL.

Bush was forced to forfeit his Heisman in 2010 due to NCAA violations surrounding impermissible benefits. Earlier this year, the Heisman Trust finally restored the honor, returning the trophy to Bush, citing fundamental changes in the structure of college athletics over the past 14 years.
