State police ID victim of fatal tractor trailer/motorcycle crash on Route 17 near Owego
One person is dead and another injured following a tractor trailer collision with a motorcycle Thursday in Tioga County. New York State Police identified the person who died as Karie L. VanDeusen, 52, of Olean. VanDeusen was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by 52-year-old Steven Myszka, also of Olean, troopers said.

Broome-Tioga BOCES is hosting a rapid hiring event next week for those interested in becoming teacher aides in Broome and Tioga Counties this fall. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24th from noon to 4 p.m. at the Instructional Support Center at 435 Glenwood Road in Binghamton. Thousands of people in the Southern Tier are still without power after a storm came through the Binghamton area Monday night. According to the NYSEG website, as of 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, 1,481 people were still in the dark in Broome County. Chenango County is right behind with 1,454 people without power.
