    Local animal sanctuary director indicted following investigation

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The director of a local animal sanctuary being investigated for animal abuse has been formally charged.

    Court documents show Sophia Kartsonis faces a cruelty to companion animals charge after 43 cats were taken from Our Farm Sanctuary in Tipp City.

    Animal sanctuary under investigation in Miami County

    Miami County law enforcement and Animal Control searched the property Monday, July 15 and cited poor conditions, finding 119 cats in one room. Forty-three cats were removed from the premises for treatment of upper respiratory infections.

    Kartsonis is scheduled back in court July 30 for her arraignment.
