Gov. Mike Parson announced Tuesday that the state’s top income tax rate will be cut next year from 4.8% to 4.7%. The reduction was contingent upon general revenue increasing by at least $200 million in the 2024 fiscal year. The governor said the income tax cut, which will mark the fourth in as many years, would be “a win-win for an everyday person.” In education news, after feeling pressure from federal and state lawmakers, the University of Missouri will dissolve its Inclusion, Diversity and Equity division. Staff and programming will be unaffected, the school said. Since 2023, more than 180 universities have made changes to diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
