Hazmat team responds to chemical leak at VA American Water plant
Emergency personnel from multiple localities responded to a hazardous leak at a water plant in Hopewell on Friday morning, according to the Hopewell Fire and EMS Department. At around 10:35 a.m. on July 5, Hopewell Fire and EMS was alerted to a chemical leak at the Virginia American Water Plant located at 900 Industrial Street. Upon arriving at the scene with one engine, one medic unit and a battalion chief, the department determined there was a hazardous leak within the plant.
