Winston-Salem chalks up savings at Sunday celebration
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Rupert Bell Park hosted a back-to-school giveaway in Winston-Salem on July 28. Young and Motivated hosted the event. It comes as parents expect significant spending on supplies this year. According to the National Retail Federation's annual survey, families with children in elementary through high school are expected to spend an average of $874.68 on school supplies, clothing, and electronics. Although this figure is $15 less than last year's record high of $890.07, it remains the second-highest amount recorded in the survey's history.
