Topping Off A High Flying Career
Laura Moser and her husband C.D. traveled from their home in Baltimore to attend their first Kentucky Derby in 2008. At the time, she couldn’t afford to buy a hat, so she decided to make her own. They loved the Derby so much they came back in 2009 and 2010, and Laura donned her own hat creations each of those years as well. As they drove back to Baltimore in 2010, C.D. suggested they retire to Louisville one day because of their love for the Derby. Fast forward to present day, they are now living in Louisville, and Laura’s dabble in hat making has flourished into a business, Simply Laura’s Millinery. In the city of Louisville and throughout the country, many people have come to love the one-of-a kind style of Laura’s handmade hats.

Preventative Health Screenings: Identify Problems Before They Start
A closer look inside the body helps find small problems before they become big. Work with your primary care physician to coordinate your overall prevention strategy. According to the CDC website, an annual lung cancer screening is recommended for individuals who meet three criteria, “have a 20-pack/year or more smoking history, and; smoke now or have quit within the past fifteen years, and; are between the ages of 50-80.” This screening is conducted via a low-dose CT (LDCT) scan which takes only a few minutes to complete. The CT scan has been proven more effective than chest X-rays at identifying abnormal growth in the lungs and early detection of lung cancer. Portions of the cost of lung cancer screening is often covered by insurance.
How One Man Is Connecting Us Through The Arts
Have you ever gotten so lost reading a book that dinner time came and went? Or how about the afternoon a kid in your life danced to his favorite song 27 times in 23 minutes? With all these artistic endeavors happening around you, maybe it won’t surprise you to know that archeological evidence suggests humans have been creating art for thousands of years.
Lighter Locks – Liberated From Color
Madonna Wilson had been coloring her own hair for over 20 years with a semi-permanent color product, which usually lasted just over a month. Because this treatment eventually washed out, she found her gray hair was slowly showing through more. She was inspired by a younger friend who went fully gray. When Madonna stopped coloring her hair, she found what was left of her natural and semipermanent color was looking more like highlights. This made the transition to go gray fairly easy. Her hair was also long at that time. When she had her next scheduled hair appointment, she found a shorter hairstyle that instantly cut out color that was left, leaving her with her natural gray tones.
Finding Shelter…At The Library
Shelter is my guiding word for this year. It is a non-striving word. A shelter offers refuge, provides safety, and embraces calm and quiet. To me, the library definitely serves as a shelter. A shelter for my intellectual curiosity and a place of peaceful contemplation. My mother was head of...

Fitness: Want To Get Fit? Here’s Where To Start.
What would you suggest to someone who is over 45 who wanted to get fit? Where do they start?. I think there’s something for everyone these days. Some people prefer to work out at home, so buying some weights and an exercise ball can be an easy start. There are fitness videos on YouTube for all fitness levels. This is a wonderful tool for working out at home. You could choose 4 or 5 different exercises, do 2 reps of each, and then change it up after 3 weeks. Increase the weights, walk a little faster, or walk for 45 minutes instead of 30. I love the Silver Sneakers videos.

Restoring furniture is a hobby that keeps your creative mind working while making sure your budget stays minimal.
