Alaska businesswoman pleads guilty to tax evasion scheme
An Alaska woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to evading taxes on income she earned from the business she operated. According to court documents and statements made in court, Tina H. Yi, of Anchorage, was the sole owner and operator of SJ Investment LLC, a hotel, bar and liquor store in Nome, Alaska, that did business as Polaris HBL. Yi created the business in approximately April 2007 and operated it until approximately October 2017, when the physical property was destroyed in a fire.

Author of the book, “The Alaskan Blonde” James Bartlett is set to teach a series of workshops on July 17 and 18 at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. In these classes Bartlett will discuss some of the techniques he uses to write true crime and find compelling stories to share. The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival runs from July 14 to July 18 and will include workshops covering topics from three minute story telling to advanced Zimbabwean style marimba. Bartlett joins us to tell us a little bit about what he’ll be teaching, what his career in crime writing has been like and reads an excerpt of his book, “The Alaskan Blonde.”

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Shortly after midnight, Shanna Marie Oman left a residence just north of Fairbanks, in June of 2019 and there have been no traces of her since. Oman, from Eagle River, stopped by Fairbanks to see a friend. She visited a house on McGrath road before leaving around 12:30 a.m. on June 3, she then went to a cabin on Pleasant Valley Road, Mile 23 Chena Hot Springs Road.
