Nanooks Hockey Night at the Goldpanners Set for July 12
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team will be present at the Alaska Goldpanners game on Friday, July 12 at Growden Memorial Park. Hockey Night with the Panners will be followed by first pitch at 7:00 p.m. as the Panners take on the Sawtooth Sockeyes. Prior to the game, fans will be able to receive 2024-25 Nanooks hockey schedule posters and other hockey items on a first-come, first-serve basis. While many areas across Southcentral have already received over half an inch of rain this month, Alaska’s largest city has only managed to see 0.03″. This year’s filing deadline for candidates running for Congress in Alaska was June 1, 2024. Twelve candidates are running for Alaska’s At-Large Congressional District, including two Democrats, four Republicans, two non-major party candidates, three nonpartisan candidates, and one undeclared candidate. Twenty-two candidates ran in 2022, six candidates ran in 2020, and seven ran in 2018.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - A woman has died after she was hit by a dirt bike on a paved walking path earlier this week in Alaska. Nadara Williams, 79, was walking with one of her best friends on Monday when the dirt bike hit her, Debbie Bitney, Williams’ daughter, said.
Anchorage International Film Festival Introduces New Leadership Team and 2 New Categories (Exclusive)
The Anchorage International Film Festival has announced four new appointments to its leadership team along with two new competitive categories. Pat McGee and Adam Linkenhelt will be the new festival directors, with Kim Walsh as the new director of operations and Caroline Pessoa Murphy as director of development. The two new categories for the film competition are the Real-World Impact category and the Explorer’s Achievement Award. They’ll be in play for the first time at this year’s festival, running from December 6-14 in Anchorage, Alaska.
